Compatibility Note For Windows XP Users

Limited User Accounts and Fast User Mode Switching are NOT supported by this software.
All user accounts on a system MUST have Administrator privileges and
Fast User Mode Switching MUST be disabled prior to installing this software.

NT, XP and 2000 Users:   If user logins display the splash screen and indicate an unlicensed version, please uninstall and re-install using Version 2.1b available HERE.

XP Users:   If you are getting multiple Failed on put screen image (P) messages:

  1. Login using an Administrator or Parent account
  2. Select Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Change the way Users log on or off
  3. Un-select (remove the check) on Use Fast User Switching
  4. Select Apply Options
  5. Close the Control Panel windows
  6. Bring up the SoftEyes For Home Display Window (by Hotkey or Icon and password)
  7. Clear the log by selecting Clear and Yes to the "are you sure..." message
  8. Click on OK to resume SoftEyes® For Home recording

Is it easy to install?

SoftEyes® For Home was designed for someone that has never installed software on a computer.   The intuitive installation process asks only a few simple questions.  The Installation and Users Guide provides step-by-step and click-for-click examples. Installation takes only minutes. back to list

Will my kids know it is installed?

Only if you select the Normal installation mode.   Normal mode display a startup splash screen and places a small icon on the system tray.  The splash screen serves as a daily reminder to users that all computer activity is being recorded.  For complete invisibility, install using Stealth mode.  Stealth mode does not have a startup splash screen or use an icon on the system tray.  Stealth mode does not show up in the Task list, Add/Remove programs, Program Files or create any folders or shortcuts. back to list

How do I get rid of the splash screen?

Bring up the Display Window and close the application by clicking on the X in the upper right corner of the window.  If you are viewing in full screen mode, click on the Zoom Out '-' button to see the X in the upper right corner. 

Answer Yes to the question "If you terminate this application, no further recording will take place....".  Now you may remove using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

Re-install SoftEyes® For Home using the Stealth mode. (NOTE: Version 2.0 users must download the free upgrade to Version 2.1 to use Stealth mode.) back to list

How invisible (Stealth) is it?

Stealth mode does not have a startup splash screen or use an icon on the system tray.  Stealth mode does not show up in the Task list, Add/Remove programs, Program Files or create any folders or shortcuts. back to list

Can someone just remove it?

SoftEyes® For Home cannot be uninstalled while running and it runs all the time.  Additionally, the software protects files in use, shutdown the computer when tampered and guards any entries in the System Registry. back to list

Is it compatible with AOL?

Yes, SoftEyes® For Home is compatible with all major browsers, email and blocking software. back to list

What if I forget my password or hotkey?

Why does my Scandisk takes so long?

Scandisk must restart every time the hard disk get modified and SoftEyes® For Home is constantly recording screen activity to the disk  Turn off your automatic Scandisk in the System Agent.

Bring up the Display Window and close the application by clicking on the X in the upper right corner of the window.  If you are viewing in full screen mode, click on the Zoom Out '-' button to see the X in the upper right corner. 

Answer Yes to the question "If you terminate this application, no further recording will take place....".

Now run Scandisk manually from the Start -> Programs -. Accessories -> System Tools.

Restart SoftEyes® For Home by restarting the computer.  back to list

How do I save a frame as a graphic file?

1. Click on the icon (or enter hotkey if Stealth in mode) and type your password.

2. Click on the '+' until your displaying in full screen mode.

3. Play the log or move the Position Slide Control until the image you want to save is displayed.

4. Move your mouse into the Display area (any area other than the gray SoftEyes control box). Press the left mouse button once.

5. Hold the Alt key down and press PrintScreen (above Insert, to the right of F12) once. You have now copied the image shown to the Clipboard.

6. Click on the '-' to leave full screen mode. Move your mouse to Windows Start -> Program Files -> Accessories -> Paint.

7. When Paint starts, select Edit -> Paste from the paint menu.

8. Select Yes to "The image in the clipboard is larger than the bitmap. Would you like to enlarge the bitmap?"

9. The image is now pasted in the paint program. From Paint select File -> Save As and pick a filename and format if needed.

10. Close Paint after saving file.

11. Repeat Step 3-10 as necessary.

How do I uninstall from Stealth mode?

Bring up the Display Window and close the application by clicking on the X in the upper right corner of the window.  If you are viewing in full screen mode, click on the Zoom Out '-' button to see the X in the upper right corner. 

Answer Yes to the question "If you terminate this application, no further recording will take place....".  Now you have to re-install Re-install SoftEyes® For Home using Normal mode.  This will get the program listed in the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

At the end of the re-install, Select No,   "I will restart my computer later". 

Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel, double click on Add/Remove Programs.  Scroll down the list of installed packages until you see SoftEyes® For Home.  Highlight and select Add/Remove.  Close all windows when finished.  back to list
